National County Day

Do we have a National County Day? I think we should.

Let’s stop and think a moment about this great, often unseen, unappreciated spatial-geographical-political-governmental thing called:

The County

They group smaller areas of land into larger areas of land. They abut other counties.

In the USA, Counties collect property taxes. In older countries, they completely define the culture.

(I can’t believe Wikipedia left out The Confederation of Helvetia): ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/County)

Fact 1:   Counties are working behind the scenes, 24/7.

(some of them are working in basements!)

Fact 2:  Without the County structure, everything would fall apart.

So, next time someone tells you to think/buy local, fire back with your answer:

____________!”  (county name here)

“Keep’n it together / Divide and Concur”

  Thank You, Counties!
