Cabin Fever !

16 Jan

Thursday, January 16th, 2014

Hello and Happy New Year!

Winter in the Northern Hemisphere and some of us are starting to get that itchy scratchy discomfort known as CABIN FEVER !!!!

(deep breath…)

So, let’s (that means me) examine the situation before it gets the grip:

Some questions to ask:

1.  Do you want to get OUT OF THE CABIN or INTO THE CABIN?

2.  What is THE CABIN?

Answering the second question first looks easier:

THE CABIN is a form of storage.

Like a computer, the storage could be really close to the action, such as in cache memory – or buried out back on a floppy.

Like a body, the storage could be brand new out-of-the-box perky fast or old-and-slow-with-years of viruses-and images.

It doesn’t matter though, because you have a nagging feeling that you want to be in another location.  Closer to the action.

A feeling of  fragmentation and isolation.

I know I’m in here.

Maybe it’s like pain, where your body is trying to tell you something.

Maybe your mind is trying to tell you something.

Something about ….opps

gotta go!

National County Day

17 Feb

Friday, February 17 th, 2012

Do we have a National County Day? I think we should.

Let’s stop and think a moment about this great, often unseen, unappreciated spatial-geographical-political-governmental thing called:

The County

They group smaller areas of land into larger areas of land. They abut other counties.

In the USA, Counties collect property taxes. In older countries, they completely define the culture.

(I can’t believe Wikipedia left out The Confederation of Helvetia): (

Fact 1:   Counties are working behind the scenes, 24/7.

(some of them are working in basements!)

Fact 2:  Without the County structure, everything would fall apart.

So, next time someone tells you to think/buy local, fire back with your answer:

____________!”  (county name here)

“Keep’n it together / Divide and Concur”

  Thank You, Counties!

To-Do List

29 Jan

Sunday, January 29, 2012

Soooo, how’s your “To-Do” list looking today?

Bad news here:

I woke up today with the bright idea to make a list of irritating things, and start the day by reading it with a “Don’t” in front of each item.

Now in addition to my “To-Do” List, I have a “Not To-Do” List.

Three Dog Night Club

28 Jan

Saturday, January 28, 2012

Anyway, the town I live in is really big on pretentious public displays of civic bling.

You know – street art, flower plantings, parks, parks and more parks.

We even have three dog parks.

One of the dog parks is so fancy it has valet barking!
