Happy Thanksgiving !

Thursday, November 22nd, 2018

It’s Thanksgiving in the U.S. today.

I am Thankful.

Up in Canada, they were Thankful last month – October 8th.

All I need now is 363 more countries with perfectly staggered holidays and a way to visit them all on their Thanksgiving for a full year of….

Am I over/under thinking this?

Thank you and:

Happy Thanksgiving!

     Rest, Peace…and the somber reminder.

Portland, Oregon

I drove by several private cemeteries yesterday and there were already a lot of flags at people’s gravestones.

It must be intense today.

The other day I was talking with a young fellow, who was telling me he was a Veteran, 4 years, VFW, etc.  He said he had Memorial day off and was thinking of riding his motorcycle but did not know where to go.

I suggested he ride up to the Willamette National Cemetery.  He said he did not know where it is.

Lucky guy … (like us.)

The address is:

11800 SE Mt Scott Blvd, Portland, OR 97086

p.s.  I suppose you can get there on your cell phone:

MLK’s Birthday!

MLK’s Birthday!

Happy Martin Luther King Jr.’s Birthday!

National Park now – how cool is that?

(It is a Federal Holiday and this year it is on the 15th- his actual birthday)

MLK:  Civil Rights Act, Congress, Presidents – whew!

They managed to squeeze one out.

Lots of words, people still trying to mangle it, but it worked.

MLK was the leader of the Civil Rights Movement in the U.S.

I don’t see it as a bunch of laws that are supposed to do everything for everybody.

It’s about Black Americans.   Especially about the ones who have been here building the country longer than most white people.

It does, however, include everybody.

Credit deserved where the credit’s due.

Statue in England

How many American leaders have this level of international recognition?

And he got us a day off!!!!

Not bad.
